The Stream Life: Week 14

The gambles did not pay off for The Stream Life last week. Both QB options finished as a QB2, the TE position was a complete crapshoot, kicker and Team D/ST was okay, but we know you’re here for the best of the best. Let’s get back to the winning ways in week 14.

QB: Lamar Jackson/Joe Flacco: Ravens at Chiefs
For some strange reason Joe Flacco gets his job back this week, The Stream Life is still considering him as a mediocre play. If Lamar Jackson gets the nod then we are starting Jackson with confidence. For reader’s sake, think about the Baltimore Ravens locker room and the confidence the team has with Jackson at QB. Baltimore cannot take the risk of messing with team chemistry right now. As for the football game, we could see the Ravens playing some keep away from Kansas City. Regardless, the free rushing yards from Jackson are great fantasy points from your QB. Jackson has rushed for at least 70 yards and a TD in 2 straight games. That’s 13 fantasy points right there. If the Ravens are unable to play keep away from Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs then the Ravens will be forced to score at least 3 TD’S. Kansas City just allowed 33 points to the Oakland Raiders so that defense can be vulnerable. Start Lamar Jackson and hope for at least 18 fantasy points.

QB: Josh Allen: Bills vs Jets
The Buffalo Bills rookie QB has been sneaky good in fantasy football over the last 2 games. Josh Allen had the 2nd highest passing yards of his career last week with 231 yards. He also had his first 2 touchdown passing game of his NFL career. Allen has become the scrambling QB we all thought he was coming out of Wyoming. All kidding aside, Allen has run for 99 and 135 yards in his last 2 games. That’s basically an additional 10 free fantasy points! The New York Jets defense allowed Marcus Mariota to rush for 43 yards last week. With The Stream Life’s calculations, we forecast around 20 fantasy points for Allen this week.

TE: Vance McDonald: Steelers at Raiders
The Pittsburgh Steelers have so many offensive weapons that it’s hard to project how well their tight ends do. This is more of a play against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders have given up over 100 receiving yards to opposing team TEs in back-to-back weeks. While everyone on the Steelers offense might be open during this match-up, the Raiders have given up 18 receptions to TEs over the last 2 weeks. The tight end position has been an extremely frustrating one in fantasy football this year so proceed with caution.

TE: Ben Watson: Saints at Buccaneers
The New Orleans Saints tight end has been on The Stream Life a couple of times this season. Ben Watson has let us down before and hopefully this week is different. Watson had 4 receptions for 44 yards back in week 1 when the Saints played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We should warn you that Watson has been basically nonexistent since week 9, but the way Drew Brees spreads the football around you never know who will catch a touchdown. In a revenge game for the Saints and after a bad loss last week to the Dallas Cowboys, the Buccaneers find themselves in the bad timing award for this week.

Team D/ST: Bills vs Jets
Seriously people, stop what you’re doing and pick up the Buffalo Bills D/ST! They are only owned in about 57% of fantasy leagues. This defense has been legit all year and now they get to face the lowly New York Jets. It doesn’t matter who starts at QB this week, The Stream Life loves starting the Bills D/ST in week 14. The Bills have 3 sacks in 3 straight games and 5 interceptions in that same span. The Jets have thrown 4 picks over their last 3 games and with it being early December in Buffalo, the points will be at a premium this weekend. Enjoy the benefits of starting the Bills D/ST this week.

Team D/ST: Jaguars at Titans
Who would have thought the Jacksonville Jaguars Team D/ST would be a Stream Life candidate this season? The Jaguars have had their fair share of problems this year, but after personally being at the Jaguars vs Colts game last week it’s safe to say this defense can still be top-notch. The Jaguars are in a bad spot. The road team playing on Thursday Night Football has a bad track record. However, in week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars allowed only 9 points. The Titans have allowed 14 sacks over their last 3 games. The Jaguars have not scored a defensive touchdown since week 1 so they’re more than due. In what should be a low scoring divisional game The Stream Life is more than happy rolling with the Jaguars Team D/ST this week.

Team D/ST: Giants at Redskins
Here’s a sneaky play The Stream Life finds value in this week. The New York Giants Team D/ST is coming off their best performance of the season. To be fair, they did get to play against Chase Daniel last week. This week, the Giants get to face Mark Sanchez. The New York Giants Team D/ST scored 16 fantasy points last week against Chase Daniel. Lucky for them, the Giants get to face off against an even worse QB this week in Sanchez. Sanchez was picked up by Washington just a few weeks ago and barely has had any time to study the playbook. On top of that, he doesn’t have the reps in to build chemistry with the offense. This smells like a sneaky good option for streaming purposes this week. Roll with the Giants if you missed out on the heavy hitters this week.

Kicker: Brandon McManus: Broncos at 49ers
Another frustrating position for fantasy football owners has been kickers. In fact, did you see ESPN’S Matthew Berry make the suggestion to remove kickers in standard fantasy football leagues next year? The Stream Life will take it one step further and suggest fantasy leagues edit the TE position. Make it a WR/TE flex, but that’s a story for another day. Brandon McManus has been below average over the last few weeks. This week the Denver Broncos get to face the lowly San Francisco 49ers and that’s why The Stream Life suggests McManus in hopes that the Broncos attempt at least 2 FG’S and the fact that the 49ers have allowed 11 PAT’S over their last 3 games!

Kicker: Mike Badgley: Chargers vs Bengals
The Stream Life is suggesting another kicker who faces a bad defense this week. The Los Angeles Chargers get to face a very bad Cincinnati Bengals defense. The Bengals have allowed at least 24 points in each of their last 3 games. While that’s not an ideal number for fantasy kickers, The Stream Life would be content with 8 points from a streaming fantasy kicker. Even though expectations have been lowered for kickers this game shouldn’t have any weather to impact the kicking game and maybe the dangerous Chargers offense will stall out in the red zone once or twice?

As always, thanks for checking out The Stream Life and best of luck to everyone in fantasy that’s not going against me this week. Twitter is @bferrer
