The Best Fantasy Matchups of Week 4
Week three of the NFL season was fun! The Jets were beaten by playmaker Baker, the Saints and Falcons gave us a game to remember, and Buffalo… yes the Buffalo Bills upset the Vikings in Minnesota. Speaking of the Vikings, I just want to say that this past Thursday nights game between them and the Rams was one of the best Thursday night football games I’ve seen in a long time. Let’s see if we can take that great game into Sunday and take a look at some of the more interesting matchups for week four.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Atlanta Falcons – 1:00 PM ET Kickoff, O/U 53.5 (Mercedes-Benz Stadium)
I can’t believe I’m going to be talking about Andy Dalton and the surprisingly good Bengals offense but here goes. Dalton is tied for third in the league with eight touchdown passes and if he throws four of them in this game, I wouldn’t be surprised one bit. He’s been great and so have his weapons. A.J. Green has been removed from the injury report so he will be an automatic start for this potential shootout. He didn’t get into the end zone last week but I expect that to change on Sunday in Atlanta. The Falcons are bottom of the barrel when it comes to giving up plenty of receiving yards. You can fire up Tyler Boyd as the sure fire WR2 in this offense. He’s been on fire and leads the Bengals with 249 receiving yards. Gio Bernard should also be talked about here. Last week against a good Carolina defense, he managed 61 rushing yards with a TD as well as five receptions for 25 yards. This week he plays against the Falcons who gave up 15 receptions for 124 receiving yards to Kamara last week. Now, Gio is no Kamara but the Falcons D are still the Falcons. I’m sure Dalton knows that and expect Gio to get into the end zone again this week.
New Orleans Saints vs New York Giants – 4:25 PM ET Kickoff, O/U 52.0 (MetLife Stadium)
Do I even have to tell you anything else about the Saints and their offense? They have 104 points through three games this year and you can certainly expect them to keep that up when they go into MetLife Stadium to face-off against the Giants. Between Michael Thomas, Drew Brees, and Alvin Kamara, you just can’t go wrong with any of them. They continue to put up the numbers week after week. Thomas has averaged 12.7 targets and 132.7 receiving yards per game. There is nothing you can do to stop this man and he will have another field day against the Giants. Kamara hasn’t gotten a lot done on the ground so far this year but his involvement in the passing game is why he continues to be a thorn in anyone who is playing against him in fantasy. 289 receiving yards through three games and Brees loves him some RB dump offs to his star RB. Expect the Saints to continue to put up a ton of points and embarrass the Giants on this home field. Oh, and Brees has eight touchdowns and no interceptions on the year.
Baltimore Ravens vs Pittsburgh Steelers – 8:20 PM ET Kickoff, O/U 50.0 (Heinz Field)
When the Ravens and Steelers play each other, it’s always a fun game to watch. The rivalry between these two teams is something you just don’t see much of anymore and I always try to tune in whenever these two play each other. These two teams are usually known for their defenses but lately, the Steelers just don’t have a defense. The bodes very well for Flacco and company but I’d like to focus a little on the Steelers. As we should all know by now, home Big Ben is always better than road Ben. except for last week when he torched the Bucs. This week he doesn’t get an easy task against the Ravens who have given up the second-fewest passing yards this year. But, it’s still Ben at home and with weapons like Antonio Brown, Juju Smith- Schuster, and James Conner, I expect him to dominate. Juju has three games with over 100 receiving yards. He only has one TD but expect him to keep it going while the Ravens try to contain Antonio Brown. AB has not had the year so far that fantasy owners expect him to have but don’t you even think about not starting him and if for some reason that thought ever crosses your mind, you need to just quit playing fantasy football. Ben is another QB who also likes to check down and that’s where Conner comes into play. The Steelers continue to feed Conner the ball and in a game that I expect to be kept close, even if it’s a high score, their going to run the wheels off of him this week. Everything about this matchup is telling you to lower your expectations because of the Ravens Defense but don’t. The Steelers will have to throw because of how bad their defense is. The Ravens will put up points and the Steelers will, too.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos – 8:15 PM ET Kickoff, O/U 54.5 (Mile High Stadium)
You just have to expect that if the Chiefs aren’t on a bye week, that they’ll more than likely be in this article every week until the slow down which I really don’t think is going to happen any time soon. Mahomes has 13, count em’ 13 passing touchdowns through three games this year. Am I looking at a rookie QB or am I looking at the Human Torch from a Marvel comic? Dude is a monster so far and he’s making teams look terrible. What makes this even better is that the Chiefs have no idea how to play defense so Mahome will have to continue to throw and throw and throw forever and when you have guys like Tyreek Hill, Travis, Kelce, Kareem Hunt, and even Sammy Watkins to throw to, you’re in for a rude awakening when you look up at the scoreboard. Just play them all. Really, what more can I even say? I mean, maybe the altitude gets to them in Denver? But who knows, by the time that happens Mahomes will probably have already thrown four TDs. I’m done. Just play all of your Chiefs.
