IDP Corner: Week 15

A friendly fantasy reminder, there is a Saturday night game this week, so remember to set check your lineups tonight.

And now for the guys who I am watching this week:

Defensive Backs:

Terrance Mitchell – It looks like Mitchell will be starting for Phillip Gaines who is out with knee issues. He grabbed 5 tackles and 2 passes defended last week, and should keep up a decent pace, as his only competition for his role is Steve Nelson, who has been on slot coverage duty and should stay that way, so Mitchell will be grabbing the outside route runners.

Cre’von LeBlanc – Coming off of a good week last week, Green Bay gives up plenty of points to CBs and LeBlanc just so happens to play that position. He should be universally available in non-dynasty formats.

D.J. Swearinger – This ARZ safety has been rolling the past couple of weeks (putting up very similar numbers to the wildly owned Tony Jefferson, while considerably under owned himself), and New Orleans is a top tier point provider for safeties… enjoy!

Terence Newman – At the start of week 1 of Harrison Smith being out, we saw Trae Waynes go down with a concussion (and will be out this week). So, entering the second week, Newman will step in, to fill Waynes’ shoes, while Anthony Harris will continue to fill in for Smith.

Akiem Hicks – Green Bay doesn’t tend to give up a bunch of points to linemen, but Hicks has had two really solid weeks of late, so he could and should be a decent hot hand to ride this week

Frank Zambo – Kansas City just lost Derek Johnson for the rest of the season, AND it’s looking like Justin Houston is questionable due to soreness in his surgically repaired (in February) knee. So, I’d say we can expect Ramik Wilson to continue to put up points, probably not at any higher of a rate that he has, but the players that step up for Johnson should be either Zambo or D.J. Alexander, I give the edge to Zambo due to how much playing time he has had on the season, even though Alexander is slotted as Johnson’s direct backup. I expect Dee Ford to step back up if Houston is limited or not in the game at all.

Zaviar Gooden – The Cardinals lost Deone Bucannon for the rest of the season and Gooden is slotted to start for him. I don’t expect insane scoring from Gooden, but because of the high level of play of the team around him, he should get targeted as a weak point in the defense and have some chances at plays and some points.

Martrell Spaight – With the sidekick of Mason Foster, Will Compton, set as questionable for this week, Spaight has already been named the starter for this week, so if Compton does play, it will be in a limited capacity. Jay Gruden, Joe Barry, and Compton himself have come forward with praise of Spaight, still the Panthers don’t provide a ton of points to middle linebackers so, keep expectations limited this week. Still worth keeping an eye on him to see if he could have an impact in the future.

Good luck to everyone with the coming games this weekend, and as always if you have questions feel free to reach out via twitter to me @decoylife or the other gurus @TFFGurus, @DaFantasyFather, and @TheFantasyBoys.
