Doug’s Draftkings Player Picks Week Fifteen

Playoffs!? Playoffs!? There is no such thing in the DFS world! If your teams are done for the year and you still have the itch to play some fantasy then Draftkings is for you! No need to stress about a waiver wire pickup or what your bench stashes look like here, just play your favorite combination of players and rake in that money.

As a way to hold myself accountable to myself and you, the reader, I will provide a weekly recap of the previous weeks player picks. I find that accountability is important in this industry as too many writers, podcasters and “experts” throw things at a wall and see if they stick and are quick to tout their “wins” but never talk about the “losses” or “misses”. Both you and I know nobody is perfect at predicting what is going to happen week to week but I think some reflection is due when you whiff on a player or team pick for the week. I will break these down into three categories: Touchdowns are players that finished in the top 10 at their respective position or produced 3-5X their value. First Downs are players that didn’t hurt you in your lineup and had average results based on cost. Punts are the players that I completely whiffed on and did not help you in any way, shape or form. They happen, it’s part of the game. If I did a bad job picking them I’m going to own up to it!

Touchdowns: Jameis Winston, Lamar Jackson, Christian McCaffrey, Julio Jones, Rob Gronkowski, Ian Thomas

First Downs: Baker Mayfield, Jeffrey Wilson Jr., Deandre Hopkins, Adam Humphries, Saints D

Punts: Justin Jackson, David Njoku, Buffalo D, Atlanta D

Quarterback:

Lamar Jackson: $5,900 vs. Tampa Bay (Home)

Lamar’s floor has been super safe over the last three games so you can fire him up in cash games with confidence. His ceiling, at home, against a Buccaneers defense that struggles mightily on the road, is enticing enough to roll with him in tournaments as well. All the Lamar!

Tom Brady: $5,900 vs. Pittsburgh (Road)

We saw Brady carve up the Miami Dolphins for over three hundred yards and three scores last week in that brutal road loss via the “Miami miracle”. This game should be a high scoring one and the way to attack the Steelers is through the air. I like Brady to repeat his performance from last week in what could be a 35-31 type of game.

Derek Carr: $5,400 vs. Cincinnati (Road)

Don’t look now but Derek Carr has been kind of good over the last couple of games against the Chiefs and the Steelers respectively. The Bengals put up more of a fight then I thought they would against the Chargers last week but still allowed Philip Rivers to have a nice game. A sneaky Raiders stack could be in order in some tournaments this week. I thought I’d never type those words in 2018.

Running Back:

Ezekiel Elliott: $9,000 vs. Indianapolis (Road)

Zeke is averaging just over 30! Draftkings points per game over the last month and the Cowboys have finally unlocked him in the passing game. On paper, this matchup isn’t great but I don’t care as I view Zeke as matchup proof. Pay the price, get the points and win.

Dalvin Cook: $6,500 vs. Miami (Home)

The Vikings fired their offensive coordinator this week and I think this signals more usage for Dalvin Cook. He’s playing at home in a game against a suspect Dolphins run defense. He’s seeing the bulk of the carries and getting some run catching passes out of the backfield. I think his volume gets to twenty touches a game and in this weekly scenario, I’m going to own an awful lot of Mr. Cook. Go Noles!

Kenneth Dixon: $3,500 vs.  Tampa Bay (Home)

This is my gut call of the week. Gus Edwards isn’t anything special and Dixon has clearly looked like the most talented back in Baltimore over the last two weeks. He’s priced close to the bare minimum and he’s seeing ten touches a game and maximizing on them. I think he gets to the fifteen touchmark in a plus matchup. You could do worse in a money-saving tournament move.

Wide Receiver:

Juju Smith-Schuster: $8,000 vs. New England (Home)

I think the demise of Antonio Brown is a bit overblown but Juju is hard to ignore. In last years game, Big Ben threw for over 400 yards against the Patriots and I’m willing to bet he gets close to that number again. I’ll take the cheaper of the two between Brown and Juju in a game that should feature many points.

Allen Robinson II: $5,500 vs. Green Bay (Home)

Arob has been pretty quiet as of late only eclipsing double-digit points once over the last month. The matchup is a good one and I don’t really love any other mid-tier priced wideouts this week. Tournament play only!

Jordy Nelson: $4,200 vs. Cincinnati (Road)

Here comes the second piece of the Raiders stack! Jordy is averaging nine targets a game over the last two games and is due for some positive TD regression. The passing game is limited in terms of options so give me the volume at the low cost.

Tight End:

Jared Cook: $4,600 vs Cincinnati (Road)

Part three of the stack is now complete and honestly if you wanted to add Doug Martin to the group, I wouldn’t be mad at you. Cook has been piping hot as he is averaging twenty-five points a game over this last two. The Cook keeps whipping up gourmet box scores for you this week. Bon Appetit!

Vance Mcdonald: $3,900 vs New England (Home)

Cheap exposure to a high scoring game. I’ll go down to the farm one more time. Hopefully, the yield is better this time around.

Kyle Rudolph: $3,200 vs. Miami (Home)

The Dolphins just got turned into tuna by a shell of himself Rob Gronkowski in their own building. Enter the red zone reindeer to make your Sunday’s bright! New OC should help Rudolph as well as he just hasn’t been worked in properly with Cousins under center. Kirk used to LOVE his tight ends.

Defense:

Jacksonville: $3,400 vs. Washington (Home)

Jags at home coming off an embarrassing loss to the Titans. I think they right the ship on defense against the hapless Skins.

Atlanta: $2,700 vs. Arizona (Home)

The Cardinals pace is slow, they are on the road and they run the fewest plays in the league. Boom.

Detroit: $2,500 vs. Buffalo (Road)

Yolo play of the week as the Lions defense has actually been a decent unit over the past two games. I trust them enough to sprinkle them into some tournaments against a hard to predict Bills offense.
