Best Fantasy Matchups of Week 17
Okay, so this is going to be short and sweet because no one and I mean no one should have their fantasy championship on week 17. If you do, I suggest you either find a new league to be in or if you’re the commish, take a vote and even if it gets voted down, you change it to a week 16 championship because this is just dumb. Anyway, as I said, this is going to be short and sweet and I’m not going to waste a whole lot of time so here we go.
Oakland Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs 4:25 PM Kickoff, O/U 52.5 (Arrowhead Stadium)
So, the Chiefs can clinch home-field advantage with a win today so you can start your usual guys on Sunday. Mahomes, Kelce, and Hill. The only thing I’m wondering here is how much of a split the backfield will be. As of now, Spencer Ware is listed as questionable even after getting in a full week of practice. Damien Williams has been a fantastic replacement and he did just sign a contract to lock him up through 2020 so that might tell you something. I’d still be fine starting Williams but not so sure about starting Ware if he does play. That’s really my only concern about this game.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Pittsburgh Steelers 4:25 PM Kickoff, O/U 45.5 (Heinz Field)
Here’s another game that means something this week. In order for the Steelers to make the playoffs, they have to beat the Bengals and the Browns have to beat Baltimore. Who would’ve ever thought that you would have to see a Steelers fan actually root for the Browns? That’s so funny to me. The easier of the two that you can probably predict is that the Steelers will beat Cincinnati but they did lose to the Raiders so who knows. Either way, this is pretty much the same as the Chiefs game. You start Big Ben, AB, and JuJu. Again, the concern here is the backfield. James Conner is listed as questionable with an ankle injury but just like Ware, he also got in full practices all week. If he plays, you play him but if he doesn’t, I hope you have Jaylen Samuels because the Bengals are just a bad defensive team and the Steelers should have no problem getting the job done at home.
Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks 4:25 PM Kickoff, O/U 38.5 (CenturyLink Field)
Well, the O/U here is a big oof but the only team I see scoring points here are the Seahawks. Wilson has been fantastic over the last couple of weeks and a win against the Cardinals can lock up the number five seed in the NFC. I don’t mind starting him but Arizona and their run defense is something to forget so you should be firing up Chris Carson without a second thought. The Hawks are a run first team and if they end up with a 14 point lead then they may not pass a whole lot. If you are going to start someone though then I do like Tyler Lockett and you should temper some expectations with Doug Baldwin. He was limited on Thursday and since they are going to be in the playoffs no matter the outcome, they might not need to leave Baldwin out on the field for the whole game.
I’m done folks. Again, none of us should have to write an article for week 17 but here we are. Just stop. Either way, if the championship is on the line today for you, I’m sorry. Okay, I’m done with the jokes. Good luck if you’re still in it and Happy New Year.
