Week 4 is a wrap! A great gauge on reading your fantasy squad, four games in and offenses are starting to click. Fantasy studs are showing their worth and sleepers are starting to show promise. Hopefully, the gurus have put you at the top of the standings and you’re not in the basement with a dreaded 0-4. With the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on bye, this week players like Mike Evans, Desean Jackson, Jordan Howard, Trey Burton, and Allen Robinson are all on the bench. Here are 3 players to drop now to fill those spots! Make sure you read Top Guru Josh Trotta’s (@trotta23) (@tffgurus) weekly waiver article and get the knowledge you need heading into week 5!
Season-ending injury drop in all leagues
- Tyler Eifert, TE Cincinnati Bengals Broken Ankle
1. Ryan Fitzpatrick QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (68% owned Yahoo!).
Tampa Bay got off to a scorching hot start and was entertaining while it lasted but Fitzmagic is officially over. Fitzpatrick was pulled in the 3rd quarter Sunday. With the Buccaneers on bye this week Head Coach, Dirk Koetter pulled the plug for good naming Jameis Winston the starter.
2. Jamaal Williams RB, Green Bay Packers (57% owned Yahoo!)
The Aaron Jones show has arrived in Green Bay after a two-week suspension. With the franchise QB Rodgers openly campaigning for Jones to get the ball more that spells bad news for Williams and it showed in week 4. Williams was outgained and outplayed by Jones. Williams with 3.44 YPC and Jones with 6.29 YPC. Williams does have a role in the offense laying those massive blocks on passing downs, but that doesn’t earn you fantasy points. The Packers use ex-WR Ty Montgomery for catching balls out of the backfield. Williams with zero catches on Sunday and only 27 yards rushing is safe to drop.
3. Rashaad Penny RB, Seattle Seahawks (47% owned Yahoo!)
Rookie running backs have been taking the league by storm the last few years but that’s not the case in Seattle. Penny is extremely talented and has plenty of promise in this league, just not this season. With starter Chris Carson sidelined week 4, it was Penny’s time to shine but only saw 16 snaps. Red Flag. Mike Davis took over RB duties and shined finding the end zone twice. Pete Carrol seems to prefer the bigger bodied back going through that weak offensive line. Carrol even suggested using an RBBC once Carson is back, not what Penny owners wanted to hear. Seattle has never utilized a catching 3rd down back in that offense, Using Russell Wilson’s legs and quick WR instead. Fantasy Consistency is what it’s all about and I don’t see it happening in Seattle soon. Drop Penny now.
