The Stream Life: Week 10
As we enter week 10 of the fantasy football season it’s now time to start your playoff push. Every starting decision begins to get more critiqued as winning these next three weeks is more valuable than ever. The Stream Life is here to help guide you with rational decisions to your line-up. Last week we offered the 13th best QB, 8th best TE, 8th best D/ST, and unfortunately, a kicker who only scored 1 point. We take the good with the bad here. Let’s dive into week 10’s Stream Life hopefuls.
QB: Baker Mayfield: Browns vs Falcons
Baker the TD maker has now thrown 2 touchdown passes in 3 consecutive games. The 297 passing yards last week is his 2nd highest on the season. The emergence of Duke Johnson Jr. in the passing game certainly helps the rookie QB. The Atlanta Falcons rank in the back half of the league when it comes to defending pass-catching running backs. This is a great match-up for Baker Mayfield as the Falcons just allowed Alex Smith to throw for 300 yards. The Falcons defense has been vulnerable all season and as long as the weather is not a factor than Mayfield could be a top 12 fantasy QB this week.
QB: Marcus Mariota: Titans vs Patriots
The Stream Life might be one week late to the Marcus Mariota party as he finally looked like a 1st round NFL draft pick on Monday Night Football. Not only did Mariota combine for 3 total TD’S last week, but he also threw for 240 yards, which is his 2nd highest total of this season. Surprisingly, the New England Patriots have been below average against QB’S. Yes, I know Aaron Rodgers didn’t exactly “ball out” last week, but in a game where New England should be in control, Mariota will be playing a lot of catch -up. There’s the chance Tennessee will look to control the time of possession similar to the Chargers game in London. Even if that’s the case, Mariota ran for over 30 yards, had over 230 passing yards and a TD. The Stream Life projects Mariota will have 2 TD’S this week and dare we suggest a 250 passing yard performance?
TE: Ricky Seals-Jones: Cardinals at Chiefs
Here’s a frequent visitor to The Stream Life, Ricky Seals-Jones has had a roller coaster type fantasy season. After back-to-back weeks of 2 catches for 12 yards, we understand the frustration with Seals-Jones. He has averaged 5 targets per game since week 5 and the Kansas City Chiefs rank in the bottom 10 against fantasy TE’S. This game will be a huge blow out as Vegas has this point spread up near 17 points! Josh Rosen could get a lot of pass attempts in this game and garbage time fantasy points might not have to wait until the 4th quarter for Seals-Jones. Start with extreme caution.
TE: Jack Doyle: Colts vs Jaguars
Here’s The Stream Life’s favorite play. If Jack Doyle is available in your league then stop reading this and pick him up right now! Doyle is now healthy and coming off the Colts BYE week. In his last game, week 8, Doyle had 6 catches for 70 yards and 1 TD. Yes, that was against the Oakland Raiders, but Andrew Luck loves his pass-catching tight ends. The Jacksonville Jaguars defense has been above average against TE’S this year. How will they look after their BYE week is the million dollar question. Against the Philadelphia Eagles in London, the Jaguars gave up 2 touchdowns to tight ends.
D/ST: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
While the case can easily be made for the New York Jets D/ST, The Stream Life is suggesting the Buffalo Bills D/ST! The Stream Life likes this play more if Sam Darnold is the QB. The Bills D/ST has 3 double-digit weeks in fantasy, which is 1 more than both the Houston Texans D/ST and Denver Broncos D/ST. Last week in the blow-out performance against the Chicago Bears they still scored 5 fantasy points. If Sam Darnold is healthy enough to play, he has thrown 7 interceptions over the last 3 weeks. The Bills have a shut down CB in Tre’Davious White and a solid pass rush that has gotten 7 sacks in a game this season. Maybe this will be the 1st week the Bills D/ST scores a touchdown. At the moment of typing, this Darnold is looking unlikely to play. Still an above average starting option this week.
D/ST: Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders
This could turn into more than just a one week Stream Life candidate as the Los Angeles Chargers D/ST has had 3 double-digit fantasy performances over their last 4 games. This week is a perfect play against the Oakland Raiders offense. Last week against the San Francisco 49ers the Raiders allowed 8 sacks. Derek Carr has not thrown an interception in 3 straight games, but if Carr’s passing attempts are only averaging 3 yards downfield then the Raiders might not score many points.
Kicker: Josh Lambo: Jaguars at Colts
The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off their BYE week and in the last game Josh Lambo played in he went 4-4 on field goals. With so many question marks around the Jaguars offense if they continue not putting the ball in the end zone then The Stream Life wants the kicker. The last two games for the Colts have been against the Bills and Raiders, two absolutely terrible offenses. Take away those two games and they have been terrible against fantasy kickers. Including the two games mentioned above, in which only 4 PAT’S and 1 field goal attempt occurred the Colts rank as a bottom 5 team against kickers.
Kicker: Michael Badgley: Chargers at Raiders
When a top-tier team signs a new kicker, The Stream Life jumps right in. Michael Badgley will be the new kicker for the Los Angeles Chargers who are 13th in total yards and 12th in total points, only 10 points away from ranked #7. The Chargers average over 27 points per game and Badgley went 3-3 in field goal attempts in weeks 6 and 7.
Thanks for stopping by for week 10 of The Stream Life! As always, good luck to everyone in fantasy this week – unless you’re going against me, which this week happens to be my cousin Sean! Twitter is @bferrer
