IDP Corner: TNF Week 9
Well here is the Thursday night barn burner we have all been waiting for. Two teams who had a great deal of potential starting this season, who now are both in some semblance of organized disarray. Injuries are a major culprit here, though so is Gruden trading, releasing, and benching a good deal of his talent. So what we will have on display this week will be a great deal of young talent and maybe a football game. No matter what, it should be interesting.
It’s likely these players are owned and starting in your league: Fred Warner, Reuben Foster, and DeForest Buckner.
Arik Armstead, DT SF: With more than double the tackles and 3 sacks over Solomon Thomas, Armstead is definitely worth a look in most leagues. More so because Thomas is almost universally owned more often than Armstead. Even more interesting is that Armstead is keeping pace with the much higher owned Buckner as far as fantasy production. In short, Armstead is a great deal at a fraction of the price.
Arden Key, DE OAK: He has been getting the most snaps on this line since week 4 and while Bruce Irvin has kept some pace, neither are wonderfully amazing currently. I think Key has some great potential, so I feel he’s worth mentioning if you looking for a dynasty stash. Otherwise, there is no real predicting who is going to do well on this line in any week.
Tyvis Powell, S SF: It’s looking like Powell will get a start to follow up his 21 snaps last week due to both Jaquiski Tartt and Antone Exum both being out this week. Powell did cause a fumble last week to go with his 2 tackles on his limited play. I’m not over the moon for him and you will see players like Jimmie Ward and Marcell Harris get plenty of snaps too, but someone is going to have to play defense and I feel like Powell might do that the most out of the options presented.
Daryl Worley, CB OAK: The first Oakland DB to see 100% of the snaps since week 2, Worley clearly is a Gruden guy. I suggested him last week and he had a bit of a 3 tackle dud, but no one else on this defense is getting the snaps he is so, he’s the smartest guy to grab in this secondary.
Marquel Lee, MLB OAK: Following week 3 Lee has taken over the snaps at MLB for the Raiders. He is a rookie and is still learning and growing and Tahir Whitehead is seeing all of the snaps at OLB, but Lee has seen a weekly creep of improvement. Lee is easily the LB to have here for any dynasty format. This week Whitehead may still out produce Lee, but it won’t be by much and plus Whitehead is likely owned (and even drafted) in bigger leagues anyway.
Malcolm Smith, OLB SF: With Reuben Foster already declared out this week, it’s a safe bet that Smith will see the bulk of the forfeited snaps. Yet to really really produce much yet this season, Smith will have to show some signs of life against a division rival and former team. Especially coming off back to back 100 tackle seasons Smith needs to start to shine, which I think he can against the Raiders. Do keep an eye out for Dekoda Watson who will be the likely 3rd LB on the field he won’t get a ton of snaps but could be sneakily viable in the most insanely deep leagues.
