IDP Corner: TNF Week 5

Thursday night games are always much more entertaining when it’s a divisional matchup I think. I’m not the biggest proponent of the Thursday night games, it feels more often than not that teams need the extra 2 days of rest to really get back up to speed, as well as do their homework on what to expect out of the coming matchup. I do find that at least with divisional games teams have at least the homework ready since they see each other twice a year, every year.

It is surprising that both of these teams are sitting at 1-3, Arizona’s suffocating secondary from last year has seemingly loosened its grip, and San Francisco is in the midst of a crazy attempt at an overhaul. So let’s spin the wheel and see who is what in this game:

Defensive Backs:

Marcus Cooper – He leads the team in Passes Defended, and is 5th in tackles. Last week was a little quiet for him but I think we will see a bounce back against a much pass happier 49er squad.

Tony Jefferson – He was a great player last year, and has stepped up into someone who is putting out great point totals week to week so far this season. He is worth considering acquiring, though you will have to do so via a trade, so be smart!

Eric Reid – He is no Antoine Bethea, but if you are looking for some help on a bye week or in a deep league injury helper, and has been collecting tackles at a decent enough rate to have confidence in his week to week numbers.

Deforest Buckner – This man has been an assisted tackle beast… if he can start getting full credit, he’ll be worth owning.

Kevin Minter – He hasn’t been going crazy but, he’s had ok tackle outputs a couple times this season, given that he typically lines up on the other half of the field from Deone Bucannon and Chandler Jones, we could start to see more rushes to his side. Not worth going out and owning for the rest of the season, but worth taking a look at if you need a bye week plug.

Michael Wilhoite – He started in place of Gerald Hodges last week, and he took full advantage of the opportunity. With NaVorro Bowman is out for the rest of the season he is primed to have the biggest swing in potential for scoring.

Good luck to everyone with the game tonight, and as always if you have questions feel free to reach via twitter to myself @decoylife or the other gurus  @TFFGurus, @DaFantasyFather, and @TheFantasyBoys
