IDP Corner: TNF Week 15
The final Thursday night game of the season is upon us and hopefully, it will bring us something more interesting than the Titans blowing out the Jaguars or the defensive battle between the Saints and the Cowboys. I know personally, I am “Dancing with Myself” with the prospect of being able to focus on only one article per week over the final two weeks of the season.
Anyway, here are the players that are most likely owned and potentially getting started from tonight’s game: Chris Jones, Justin Houston, Anthony Hitchens, Dee Ford, Ron Parker, Eric Berry, Derwin James, Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Desmond King, and Jatavis Brown.
While players like Damion Square, Darius Philon, and Isaac Rochell have been just as unproductive as Ingram over the past four weeks, however, Ingram and Bosa are the only two people on this line who have ever been consistent producers. I don’t trust anyone else enough to make a reliable blip on a radar from the Chargers.
The Kansas City line is as equally full of some fools gold and Chris Jones. Allen Bailey had a pair of good games against the Rams and the Raiders, and I wouldn’t stop you from adding him if you really needed a DL player from THIS game. I would remind you that on 55 snaps in week one, he did NOTHING against the Chargers and has totaled more than 4 tackles only four times this season, so I’m cold on him for sure.
Adrian Phillips, S LAC: Since week five the worst fantasy week that Phillips has put up is 3 solo tackles. With all the injuries that the Chargers have seen at Linebacker Philips has found his way into the “midfielder” type position that he played toward the end of last season where he plays a hybrid Safety/Linebacker. And yet again he has shined in the position. He is pretty wildly unowned (0% Yahoo, 2.37% MFL), so he should be an easy add on your team and I expect you will be able to roll with him through the whole of a fantasy playoff run.
Kendall Fuller, CB KC: Totaling tackles comparable to Parker in recent weeks, Fuller has 3 more passes defended than Parker over the past three games. Given how heavily the Chargers favor the passing game, especially with Melvin Gordon questionable going into the game tonight, I expect Fuller along with the rest of the DBs for Kansas City will get plenty of work.
As I had mentioned in my write up for Adrian Phillips there have been a number of injuries to the linebackers for the Chargers, as such right now Jatavis Brown is the only usable one right now, and given he’s pretty widely owned, I can’t really suggest anyone else from this team. Kyle Emanuel and Uchenna Nwosu certainly have seen some playing time but, I still wouldn’t suggest them at this time.
One last time where I have to caution you that the players that are fantasy relevant for Kansas City are all highly owned. I would love to suggest Reggie Ragland but, his production has been inconsistent this season and even still recently. Other than that, Houston, Ford, and Hitchens all are well owned so it’s not likely you’ll be adding them to your team via free agency.
