IDP Corner: TNF Week 14
Well, not every Thursday night game is going to be great. Actually, til about halfway through this season most of them were stinkers, so I guess… we are back to normal everyone! Please keep your amazement and joy to a minimum. Jacksonville has a solid defense and an offense that doesn’t stay on the field long enough for the defense to rest. Tennessee has a solid defense and an offense that doesn’t stay on the field long enough for the defense to rest. Yes, I repeated myself, but if you look over the course of this season these teams have heavily depended on their defense to hold them up and on the weeks that their offense can stay on the field long enough they end up winning because the defense could rest. The Tennessee offense was up last week, so they are who I’m guessing will win this week.
Players that are likely already owned if not being started in your league: Telvin Smith, Myles Jack, Calais Campbell, Jalen Ramsey, Yannick Ngakoue, Wesley Woodyard, Adoree’ Jackson, Kevin Byard, and Jurrell Casey.
Harold Landry, DE/OLB TEN: If Landry has a DE designation in your league then he’s been a pretty decent and consistent player paired with Jurrell Casey. If Landry is only classified as just an LB in your league, then maybe glance at Austin Johnson but, really just avoid any other TEN defensive linemen. Landry hasn’t been lights out but, he’s been putting stats on the board.
As for Jacksonville defensive line, Campbell and Ngakoue are amazing players, Malik Jackson is super talented but just doesn’t produce much in the way of fantasy points. If you don’t have access to Campbell and Ngakoue then you are best off to avoid the remainder of their DL players.
Logan Ryan, CB TEN: If you want a more stable suggestion, then look for Kenny Vaccaro who is very very available, but Ryan has been on a roll over the previous four games. Certainly, Cornerbacks aren’t as dependable in my mind in the fantasy world but, if Tennessee gets up early we should see plenty of passing from Bortles which could lead to some passes defended or even an Interception.
D.J. Hayden, CB JAX: Stepping up last week against Indianapolis Hayden had a nice week. Tennessee has stepped up their passing percentage recently and teams know to avoid even a slightly injured Ramsey… so if you look over here we have Hayden. He is still very un-owned and is worth considering especially if any of your DBs are hurt this week.
Jayon Brown, ILB TEN: While Woodyard has played less overall due to a short injury stint, Brown has been healthy all season and is much more likely to be available in your free agent pool. Brown has been solid this year, sadly with few high points, so if you use him this week expect more of what his floor is (again solid), and less of what he could explode for. You could find much worse for a fill-in player for week 1 of the fantasy playoffs and might want to consider keeping on board for subsequent games.
Similar to their defensive line, there are currently two very fantasy relevant LBs in Jacksonville: Smith and Jack. Leon Jacobs is the next most productive LB over the previous four weeks, in which he’s totaled 4 Solo Tackles, 1 Assisted Tackle, and NOTHING ELSE. Same rules apply here unless you already have Smith and Jack, then avoid this team in the hunt for a sleeper or someone to step up.
