DraftKings DFS tips for week 7
By Doug Eddy
Hello all and welcome to week 7 of the NFL! Are you already 1-5 or 0-6? Did you draft Dez, Jordy Nelson, Jamaal Charles etc and are already at your wits end? Daily fantasy is for you! No worries about hurt players or a terrible draft here. Pick your team and keep it under $50,000 and enter it into weekly contests to earn real money! I will be writing this column weekly with my suggestions for DraftKings lineups and cash game strategies. I will cover three options at each position who I think will break out and not have a high ownership percentage which means you have a better chance to win!
Carson Palmer VS. BAL. $6700
Carson Palmer is my number one ranked QB this week and should go off on Baltimore and their bottom of the league ranked secondary. I think it was a fluke that the Cards only scored 13 points last week. They rebound in a big way at home. Over 300 yards and three TD’s should be the floor for Palmer this week.
Phillip Rivers VS. OAK. $6500
San Diego running game is a bit of a mess so that has spelled success for Rivers. Keenan Allen should play this week and I expect Rivers to throw fifty passes again in what could be a bit of a shootout at home in a great division rival game. Rivers ownership will probably be low as he gets no respect nationwide. Take advantage and expect 350 plus yards and at least a couple scores!
Landry Jones VS. KC. $5100
Bargain basement play of the week! Obviously keep an eye out if Big Ben can go, if not start Landry. He reinvigorated the offense after he was put in for Vick last week vs. Arizona. No easy task. KC is a tough place to play but I don’t expect the crowd to be a factor as the Chiefs have one win on the season and can’t defend the pass to save their lives. Brown, Bryant and Bell should all be busy in the passing game and set up Landry for success!
Devonta Freeman VS. TENN. $7900
I’m finally a believer. I said it. Freeman is just destroying the competition and I don’t think it stops this week vs. Tenn. Can we get another three TD game? I don’t see it this week but 150 yards from scrimmage and two TD’s is completely possible. He’s won people serious money this season, now it’s your turn.
Chris Ivory VS. NE. $5800
Probably the hottest RB not named Freeman in the NFL right now with a good matchup. People will shy away when they see the NE D but here is a fun fact for you, the Pats give up 4.8 ypc and typically let teams run on them with their bend don’t break style. Ivory also has a nice track record vs. the Pats. 120 yds and a score or two are in the cards.
Todd Gurley VS. CLE. $5000
No brainer of the week. He will be widely owned and for good reason. Don’t let that scare you away as we could be in store for a historic performance from the rookie tailback. 200 yards? Three scores? I say YES!
T.Y. Hilton VS. NO $6500
Thank you Hilton finally got in the endzone last week vs. NE and looked good running crisp routes and making a couple of tough catches. All good signs that he is back. He gets NO’s secondary and will be a huge matchup problem. Look for his first 40+ yard TD of the season this week and over 125 yds total.
Mike Evans VS. WAS. $6400
I loved Evans coming into the season and I’m hoping this is the turnaround game for him. The bye week will help and Washington’s secondary typically cures all ailments. They gave up two TD’s last week and didn’t play all that well throughout. Evans goes for 90yds and two TDs, I hope.
Martavis Bryant VS. KC $4700
Another no brainer play at his price this week. Bryant showed the type of talent that he has on a leaping TD grab and an amazing catch and run screen for a long TD. I’m all in on him for the rest of he season but this may be his best matchup left on their schedule. Jones at QB is just fine. If Big Ben plays even better!
Antonio Gates VS. OAK. $5000
Gates has been on fire since his return from his four game suspension and hasn’t missed a beat. If Allen isn’t 100% this week that will mean even more looks for Gates. As we all know Oak is terrible at covering the TE and Gates has a history of blowing up against them. That’s a win, win!
Julius Thomas VS. BUFF. $4500
I really liked what I saw from Thomas last week. He looked good in his routes and most of all looked comfortable in the offense. Bortles looked his way quite a bit and similar to Gates if Robinson isn’t 100% that should mean more work across the pond early Sunday morning on yahoo.com.
Delanie Walker VS. ATL. $3900
Another player getting healthy is Walker. Finally getting his share of targets last week he almost put up 109 yards vs. Miami. I actually like Walker more this week if Mettenberger plays. He tends to check down more than Mariota does and that’s good news for the TE.
Miami VS. HOU. $2700
Miami looked like a new team on the road in Tenn. Last week. Now they are at home against a hit or miss Houston offense. I expect more sacks and a couple of turnovers this week as they keep rolling under Dan Campbell.
Steelers VS. KC $2600
The Steelers defense has been a nice turnaround story the past few weeks. Really nice game vs. Arizona and now they take on the punchless Chiefs. I expect a low score, at least three sacks and a forced fumble from them this week.
Redskins VS. TB $2500
This is a hit or miss pick this week as Tampa has been up and down in scoring points. We know Winston will turn it over a couple of times and they did have the bye last week so it could be a risky pick but at the price I’m willing to find out.
