DraftKings DFS Tips for Week 16

By Doug Eddy

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Week 16 is upon us and if you’ve missed the playoffs in your league the good news is you can play some daily games and try to recoup some of those lost entry fees!

Pick your team and keep it under $50,000 and enter it into weekly contests to earn real money! I will be writing this column weekly with my suggestions for DraftKings lineups and cash game strategies. I will cover three options at each position who I think will break out and not have a high owner percentage which means you have a better chance to win!

Ryan Fitzpatrick Vs. N.E. $5,200

I’ve heard some people this week fade Fitzpatrick in this matchup but I completely disagree. Fitzpatrick went off for over 300 yards and three scores IN New England last time versus the Pats. He’s at home this time around and I expect this to be a shootout. Start Fitzpatrick with great confidence this week.

Brian Hoyer @Tenn. $5,200

Brian Hoyer has been practicing this week and looks like a go come Sunday. A classic low ownership play for Hoyer. He has a great matchup and he should get back to his solid stat lines as he gets Hopkins going again. He kills Tennessee. 250 yards and two scores look likely.

Matthew Stafford Vs. S.F. $6,100

What a difference Jim Bob Cooter has made for Stafford and he’s done it with an ineffective Calvin Johnson. 12 TD’s and only two picks in his last four games Stafford looks like he rewound the clock back to 2012. Look for Stafford to target Riddick and Tate a ton in this game. 300 yards and three scores is an easy ceiling this week.

Running Back:

David Johnson Vs. GB $5,800

The captain obvious pick this week. You have to put Johnson who is the 11th costliest back in your lineup as he could produce #1 overall RB stats like he did last week. Green Bay is 28th against the run in the last four games. Cash money.

James White @NYJ $4,700

The Jets will be bringing the house against Brady this week and White will benefit in check down duty. White has the third most receptions by a RB in his last three games and I expect that trend to continue. He has also shown a knack for getting into the end zone. 8 catches for 80 and a score sounds about right in MetLife stadium on Sunday.

Tim Hightower Vs. Jax $4,500

Hightower has filled in admirably for Mark Ingram the past couple of weeks. He also had the check down heard round the world on Monday night that gave many an owner a loss in their year long leagues. All is forgiven! Great matchup and great usage for Tim this week and he should be a solid RB2 for you in your daily leagues.

Wide Receiver:

Jarvis Landry Vs. IND $6400

It’s bounce back time for Jarvis! Anytime you have a talent like Landry lined up against Darius Butler fantasy success awaits. Butler is ranked in the bottom 20 in the league in the slot. Landry is a target and catch monster and I think he hits pay dirt this week as a cherry on top.

Kamar Aiken Vs. Pitt $5,400

Speaking of target hogs, Aiken has seen 30% of the Ravens targets over the last three weeks and has proven himself as a solid floor WR2. Did you see Thomas and Sanders chew up the Steelers secondary? Aiken should feast and put up a 7 catch 120 yard and a score stat line for you this week. Enjoy!

Dorial Green-Beckham Vs. Hou.$4,000

The monster is starting to break out of his cage in Tennessee! Really coming into his own over the past couple of weeks Beckham is really learning the position and is looking like a star in the making. I love him even more with Mettenberger at the wheel for Tennessee. He’s got a big arm and he’s not afraid to take chances. Beckham can use his size and physicality to his advantage over the Texans DB’s.

Tight End:

Julius Thomas @N.O. $5,100

Orange Julius has been squeezing himself out a bigger role in the offense as of late and had seven catches last week versus Atlanta. He now draws the worst defense in the league versus the tight end.  Look for two scores and at least sixty yards from Julius this week.

Kyle Rudolph Vs. NYG $3,300

The Giants defense is so bad that this is either a boom or bust play this week. Good matchups for every Viking means that Rudolph could either be a huge hit or because every one else is scoring the forgotten man. I think he will be involved heavily especially with Adrian Peterson not being 100% this week.

Jared Cook @SEA. $2,800

I am not a Jared Cook fan and think he is actually a pretty awful football player but hear me out. The Rams passing offense is built on short yardage plays. The Seahawks do not cover the TE well at all so Cook has a green matchup this week. Keenum will have to release the ball quickly so you should see a fair share of catches for Cook. I think a six for sixty type of day for him. Not bad at $2800.

Defense/Special Teams:

Lions Vs. Niners $2,800

Blaine Gabbert showed some flashes here and there which was nice to see but this is a tough road matchup for him. Niners have trouble scoring and Detroit should be able to force two turnovers and a few sacks in this one.

Rams Vs. Seahawks  $2700

Contrarian play of the week! These matchups are typically low scoring and the Rams matchup with the Seahawks so well that we should see a double digit scoring day in DFS.

Texans Vs. Titans $2800

Texans are playing for the division against an opponent they typically own. Start with confidence this week!

Good luck this week and I will see you next Thursday! If you ever have DFS or any fantasy questions hit us up @TFFGurus and myself @dafantasyfather
