Doug’s Draftkings Player Picks Week Ten

Hello my loyal readers! This weeks article will be a bit abbreviated as I have some personal things going on this week. I re-aggravated my back on Wednesday and I traveled to New Hampshire and back for a funeral on Thursday. Life happens folks! Enjoy this article and let’s win some money!

As a way to hold myself accountable to myself and you, the reader, I will provide a weekly recap of the previous weeks player picks. I find that accountability is important in this industry as too many writers, podcasters and “experts” throw things at a wall and see if they stick and are quick to tout their “wins” but never talk about the “losses” or “misses”. Both you and I know nobody is perfect at predicting what is going to happen week to week but I think some reflection is due when you whiff on a player or team pick for the week. I will break these down into three categories: Touchdowns are players that finished in the top 10 at their respective position or produced 3-5X their value. First Downs are players that didn’t hurt you in your lineup and had average results based on cost. Punts are the players that I completely whiffed on and did not help you in any way, shape or form. They happen, it’s part of the game. If I did a bad job picking them I’m going to own up to it!

Touchdowns: Cam Newton, Jared Goff, Alex Smith, James Conner, Michael Thomas, Travis Kelce, Greg Olsen, O.J. Howard, Miami D, Chargers D

First Downs: Latavius Murray, D.J. Moore

Punts: Lamar Miller, Courtland Sutton, Buffalo D

Quarterback:

Jared Goff: $6,100 vs Seattle (Home)

Three weeks in a row now for Goff in this article. All he did last week is throw for 391 yards and three scores. Now he’s at home against a middle of the road Seattle defense. Take advantage of yet another week of an affordable Goff.

Andrew Luck: $5,500 vs. Jacksonville (Home)

Great tournament play alert! Many will fade Luck as he’s facing the Jaguars defense but they aren’t the Jags of 2017. Look for Luck to throw it all over the yard. 400 yards and at least two scores? I think so.

Marcus Mariota: $4,700 vs. New England (Home)

I was very pleased with Mariota’s performance against a good Dallas defense on the road Monday night. The Titans get some home cooking and face a Patriots defense that has played ok but is still vulnerable through the air. He’s dirt cheap this week and his rushing yards should provide a safe floor.

Running Back:

David Johnson: $6,800 vs. Kansas City (Road)

Game script narrative be damned! I’m betting on the match up and the talent here. Running back is full of expensive plays this week so I’m shifting down to DJ in quite a few of my lineups.

Aaron Jones: $5,000 vs. Miami (Home)

He fumbled! I don’t care. He still looked great and made the most of every touch with the exception of the fumble, which was a great play by the defender. Jones is a solid RB2 in year long and daily fantasy going forward and this could be a nice blow up spot for him at home.

Duke Johnson Jr.: $4,700 vs. Atlanta (Home)

A little bit of recency bias here but the plays Duke ran sure did look scripted for him last week. I think this a sign of things to come. The Falcons have given up by far the most receptions to the running back position this season so look for Duke to repeat his target share and workload in week ten.

Wide Receiver:

Mike Evans: $7,100 vs. Washington (Home)

A bounce back tourney play for the ages! Evans lead the team in targets but only snared one catch for sixteen yards against the Panthers last week. I’m betting he gets back to his WR1 ways with a 7/120/1 stat line against the Redskins.

Josh Gordon: $6,000 vs. Tennessee (Road)

Two words. Malcolm Butler.

Maurice Harris: $3,900 vs. Tampa Bay (Road)

My deep hail mary play of the week. It looks like Jamison Crowder may miss this game and the Skins just put Paul Richardson on I.R. so why not Mo Harris in a great match up?

Tight End:

David Njoku: $4,200 vs Atlanta (Home)

Njoku had a nice rebound game after he put up a bagel in week eight and will continue to trend upwards here against a Falcons linebacking and safety corps that looks like the cast from The Walking Dead.

Austin Hooper: $3,800 vs Cleveland (Road)

Man, last weeks tight ends were chalky. This week is a little trickier and I’m banking on Hooper to dunk on the Browns defense. The Falcons putting up points against them should be a lay up.

Nick Vannett: $2,700 vs. Los Angeles Rams (Road)

Eight targets last week and a touchdown. The match up is good. Why the hell not?

Defense:

L.A. Chargers: $3,500 vs. Oakland (Road)

In case you’ve been living on the Titanic, the Raiders are awful.

Kansas City: $3,300 vs. Arizona (Home)

Rookie QB, surging defense and one of the toughest places to play on the road makes this a great spot for the Chefs. Great googily moogily.

Indianapolis: $2,800 vs. Jacksonville (Home)

The Jags have been turnover machines on offense as of late and the Colts haven’t played all that badly on defense so here is my hail mary defense play of the week!
