Doug’s Draftkings Player Picks Week 10

Week nine might have been the craziest week I’ve experienced in my time playing DFS. Deshaun Watson tears his ACL in practice which impacted all of the Texans on the slate. Zeke Elliott, all but out of chances somehow get’s clearance to play in a great spot against Kansas City and in turn devaluing Dez Bryant and putting Alfred Morris on ice for another week. Seriously, can we wrap up the whole Zeke suspension thing already? It was wild but I still did well enough to cash in most of my lineups. Self high five!

As important as it is for the “chalk” to hit in GPP’s it’s just as important to find those contrarian plays that nobody else is playing to increase your chances of placing in the money. It’s a gentle balance, that’s for sure. Lineup construction is the most important piece to success. Take your time, do your research and go with your gut as to who YOU think will do well. Group think can cloud your thinking! I’m just a guide to help you and I hope you enjoy my advice every week.

As a way to hold myself accountable to myself and you, the reader, I will provide a weekly recap of the previous weeks player picks. I find that accountability is important in this industry as too many writers, podcasters and “experts” throw things at a wall and see if they stick and are quick to tout their “wins” but never talk about the “losses” or “misses”. Both you and I know nobody is perfect at predicting what is going to happen week to week but I think some reflection is due when you whiff on a player or team pick for the week. I will break these down into three categories: Touchdowns are players that finished in the top 10 at their respective position or produced 3-5X their value. First Downs are players that didn’t hurt you in your lineup and had average results based on cost. Punts are the players that I completely whiffed on and did not help you in any way, shape or form. They happen, it’s part of the game. If I did a bad job picking them I’m going to own up to it!

Touchdowns: Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, Adrian Peterson, T.Y. Hilton, Sammy Watkins, Philadelphia D, Arizona D

First Downs: Lamar Miller, Michael Thomas, Dez Bryant, Sterling Shepard, Tyler Kroft, Atlanta D

Punts: Alfred Morris, Alex Collins, Cameron Brate, Jonnu Smith

On to this weeks picks:

Josh McCown: $6,100 vs. Tampa Bay (Road)

Don’t look now but Ivan Drago has been a top ten quarterback option over the past month. I know, I’m surprised as you are! Luckily the train will keep rolling against a league worst Tampa Bay secondary. I’m really digging a New York Jets stack in both cash and tournaments. That might be the weirdest thing I’ve typed in this article all year.

Andy Dalton: $5,300 vs. Tennessee (Road)

In two of the last three games Dalton has faced a top five pass defense so it appears on paper he has been awful. Everyone stinks against the Jags and the Steelers have a top ten pass defense. Against the Colts two weeks ago Dalton posted a 243/2 line and I think that is his floor this week against an exploitable Titans secondary (No offense Kevin Byard, you’re still my boo).

Eli Manning: $5,100 vs. San Francisco (Road)

Another seemingly “gross” play is Mr. derp face himself Eli Manning. Much Like Dalton, Eli has faced two great secondaries in the past three weeks in Seattle and Denver. Last week against a good Rams defense Eli had 220 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. The Niners secondary just lost their best player, Jaquiski Tartt so Eli should see little resistance this week on the road in San Fran.

Running Back:

Leonard Fournette: $8,400 vs. L.A. Chargers (Home)

A surprise inactive last week due to breaking some team rules, Fournette is in a great bounce back spot at home against the Chargers. I fully expect the Jags to give Lenny 25-30 touches and for him to run angry. I like it when Lenny is angry. The Jags want to play great defense and run the ball. Run Lenny run!

Alvin Kamara: $6,900 vs. Buffalo (Road)

This is going to seem like a little bit of point chasing and it probably is to be honest but man in a full point ppr format Kamara is smashing it right now. I want a piece of that here and there in cash game lineups AND in tournaments. This is a potential smash spot for Alvin as he is on the road in a hostile environment where Drew Brees has struggled in the past. They could really feature the run, short pass game on Sunday. Get Alviiiiinnnnnnnnnn! in those lineups!

Carlos Hyde: $6,300 vs. N.Y. Giants (Home)

It’s been a few weeks since Mr. Hyde has found pay dirt despite seeing an average of twenty touches a game. Pierre Garcon is done for the season and George Kittle has already been ruled out so Hyde should maintain his usage in a plus match up. I expect over one hundred yards from scrimmage, six receptions and a score, getting Hyde off of the scoring schneid.

Matt Forte: $4,400 vs. Tampa Bay (Road)

The second part of my Jets stack, Forte was the clear lead dog last week against the Bills and he should be in line once again for the bulk of work against the Bucs. Forte has had one of the greatest under the radar fantasy football careers in recent memory. Let’s take a trip down memory lane one more time with Mr. Forte.

Wide Receiver:

A.J. Green: $7,700 vs. Tennessee (Road)

No suspension for A.J. Green! I was surprised that he didn’t get a game but I’m happy that I can include him in my lineups this week. This is an absolute smash spot for Green. It very well could be a 175 yard, two touchdown type of day against a fantasy friendly Titans secondary (with the exception of Kevin Byard, he’s the bees knees).

Robby Anderson: $5,200 vs. Tampa Bay (Road)

Here is the third installment of the Jets stack this week! Anderson has scored in three straight games, Jeremy Kerley has been suspended for the next four games so Robby should see an uptick in targets in an A+ match up. On the season Mr. Anderson has been a top twenty receiver. What a surprise the Jets have been.

Marqise Lee: $4,100 vs. L.A. Chargers (Home)

The Chargers play tight defense on the opposing outside receivers and Lee has been seeing the bulk of the targets in the slot so I believe the volume will be turned up to 11 this week.

Terrelle Pryor Sr.: $3,500 vs. Minnesota (Home)

At this bargain basement price I’d be OK sprinkling in Pryor into a tournament lineup here and there and hope he gets a TD. YOLO type of play.

Adam Humphries: $3,100 vs. New York Jets (Home)

Mike Evans suspension has been upheld and Ryan Fitzpatrick is taking over for Jameis Winston while he rehabs his shoulder. Fitzmagic is a gunslinger and I think both Humphries and even Chris Godwin are nice frugal plays in tournaments this week. Heck, I don’t even mind Fitzpatrick at his price this week.

Tight End:

Cameron Brate: $4,100 vs. New York Jets (Home)

A charter member of a sneaky, cheap Tampa stack, Brate had his first game outside of the top twelve at the position last week. Great bounce back spot for Cameron. Make Cameron Brate again! That’s arguably one of my favorite fantasy team names despite my disdain for the Donald. Don’t @ me.

Eric Ebron: $3,100 vs. Cleveland (Home)

A potentially low owned player that has disappointed against a really bad Browns team that bleeds points to the tight end. Gut feeling is that Ebron scores this week.

Garrett Celek: $2,500 vs. New York Giants (Home)

The Giants have given up a touchdown to a tight end EVERY game this season! No George Kittle this week so Celek becomes an intriguing value play.

Pittsburgh: $3,700 vs. Indianapolis (Road)

Sacks on sacks on sacks on sacks against the Colts offensive line.

New York Giants: $3,200 vs. San Francisco (Road)

Can the Giants bounce back after giving up 51 points last week? I think so!

Chicago: $3,000 vs. Green Bay (Home)

The Packers offense makes me want to cry and the Bears have been smashing on D so this is what it’s like when worlds collide. Shout out to Powerman 5000 and now you have that song stuck in your head. You’re welcome!
