3 Players To Drop: Week 6
Week 5 has come to an end. Top tier teams are starting to pull away, while the others flutter to gain momentum. Now that all teams and players have several complete games under their belt, injuries are all too common. The week 6 bye week includes the New Orleans Saints and the Detroit Lions. Some heavy-duty firepower will be out of the lineups this week. Here are 3 players to drop now to fill those spots! Make sure you read Top Guru Josh Trotta’s (@trotta23) (@tffgurus) weekly waiver article and get the knowledge you need heading into week 6!
Season-ending injury drop in all leagues
- Jay Ajayi RB, Philadelphia Eagles: Torn ACL
This week’s players to drop:
1. Giovani Bernard RB, Cinncinati Bengals (54% owned Yahoo!)
The multi-tool running back sprained his MCL against Atlanta in week 4. The 2-4 week injury news came just has Joe Mixon made his return to the starting lineup. Good news for the Bengals, bad for fantasy owners. Gio played great in his starts scoring 3 touchdowns but saw very little touches when he shared the backfield with Mixon. Joe Mixon looked fantastic in his start against the Dolphins. So even if Giovani’s return is quick there is no guarantee that he produces solid points weekly. Only keep Bernard if you’re the Mixon owner. Otherwise, drop away!
2. Chris Hogan WR, New England Patriots (64% owned Yahoo!)
7-11 might always be open, but that doesn’t mean you get the ball! Hogan’s ADP was high due to Edelman’s 4 game suspension. His knowledge of the offense and Brady’s trust was supposed to get owners off to a fast start. His 11 receptions in 5 games have left owners scrambling. Patriots potent offense is back with Edelman’s return, Josh Gordon becoming more involved weekly and let’s not forget to mention Gronk and James White, Chris Hogan is still just a boom or bust WR for the rest of the season. That’s a roller coaster you want to get off of early not late.
3. Marquise Goodwin WR, San Fransisco 49er’s (49% owned Yahoo!)
Former track star Goodwin is one of the fastest guys in the league. Two goose eggs to start the season and now dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him inactive week 5. An injury that can linger and be a potential problem all season. His speed has been useless with CJ Bethard at quarterback, the backup forced into the starting role has zero time to throw behind that offensive line. San Fransisco will be throwing short passes and running the ball for the rest of the season. Drop Goodwin and pick up someone in a sustainable offense. The 49ers are on their way to the number 1 pick in the draft.
