3 Players To Drop: Playoffs

Fantasy Football is the best. Fantasy Football is the mayhem. Many leagues had underdog wins due to officially the lowest scoring fantasy week of the season. Survive and advance. Congrats to those who did! For those on the losing end, 3rd place might have meaning in your league so let’s get this crucial WIN! This week’s article is geared for players over 70% owned in most leagues and won’t help you on your championship bound team. Make sure you read Top Guru Josh Trotta’s (@trotta23) (@tffgurus) weekly waiver article and get the knowledge on who to pick up as we head into the final weeks.

1. Cam Newton QB, Carolina Panthers (99% owned Yahoo!)

Cam Newton’s start incredible season came to a screeching halt 4 weeks ago. The passing and his upside running game has suffered. It’s clear on the field he is dealing with an injury but playing through it. Today, Head Coach Ron Rivera stated “shutting him down is not out of the question.” Panthers lost 6 straight. Shut down Cam Newton.

2. Austin Ekeler RB, Los Angeles Chargers (84% owned Yahoo!)

The essential handcuff to Melvin Gordon missed last Thursday nights game with a concussion and neck injury. He failed to practice today which is a bad sign. Rookie Justin Jackson is managing the reps and Gordon is expected back this week. Ekeler’s injury looked worrisome on the field and I don’t think he will be rushed back. With home field advantage opportunity available in the playoffs I expect Melvin Gordon to play. Unless your the Gordon owner, Ekeler is safe to drop.

3. Dion Lewis RB, Tennessee Titans (78% owned Yahoo!)

The Derrick Henry show has arrived, better late than never but it’s a disaster for Lewis owners. Dion had 3 catches and 7 rush attempts in a blowout win. The Titans are winning football games. With the way Henry is running, they won’t change the offense until someone stops it. With the injury-plagued Washington Redskins up next, feed Henry drop, Lewis.
