The Waiver Wire – Week 13

What a terrible time to get a severe cold! I woke up yesterday feeling a little off but as the day progressed I began to feel worse and worse and I slept from 1 pm yesterday till 7:30 am this morning with only a few breaks to eat and hydrate. Last night my fever peaked at 103 and as I am writing this I have a fever of 101. It’s week 13 and our loyal readers need their waiver wire fix and I can’t let a fever get in the way! Because of how crappy I feel this will be a more condensed edition of The Waiver Wire.

It’s win and get in time for everyone on the playoff bubble. Let’s get right into the top pickups for week 13!

As a disclaimer, all players must be owned by less than 60% of ESPN or Yahoo leagues. Ownership percentages are in parenthesizes. Below I have ranked the top 3 adds at each position with a bonus player or two sprinkled in throughout.

Case Keenum (ESPN 37% / Yahoo 47%): Has put up two top 5 QB performance in the past 3 weeks. Ride the hot streak!

Josh McCown (ESPN 32% / Yahoo 32%): Currently your QB13 on the season. Criminal that he is still not owned by over 60% of Yahoo or ESPN leagues. Oh, and he was your QB3 for week 12 just behind Big Ben & Phillip Rivers.

Brett Hundley ESPN 5% / Yahoo 7%): Breakout performance on the road on Sunday Night vs a top Steelers defense. Now gets a plus matchup Sunday at home vs Tampa Bay.

Rex Burkhead (ESPN 43% / Yahoo 51%): I’m the captain NOW! Remember at the beginning of the year when I said what’s the harm and rostering Rex Burkhead as he may be the main back in NE? I don’t want to say I was right but the proof is right in front of us. Rex and Dion Lewis are the two backs to own and are weekly starts even if you own them both. It doesn’t hurt that NE gets Buffalo Sunday who ranks 32nd in rushing touchdowns allowed.

Jamaal Williams (ESPN 65% / Yahoo 59%): Breakout game Sunday similar to Hundley and if Ty Montgomery is unable to go again, Williams is an in a situation that the matchup makes him an RB3 w/ RB2 upside.

Kenyan Drake (ESPN 59% / Yahoo 57%): Damian Williams is to be sidelined for a few weeks with a shoulder sprain opening the volume doors to Drake. Miami has continued to stay focused on running the ball and Drake will see the lions share of carries during Williams absence.

Cooper Kupp (ESPN 60% / Yahoo 60%): Chase chase chase the volume! First game without Robert Woods and Kupp saw 11 targets and had his first 100 yard game of his NFL career.

DeDe Westbrook (ESPN 9% / Yahoo 26%): VOLUME!! Westbrook saw 10 targets in only his 2nd game in the NFL and looks to build on that Sunday vs a Colts secondary that gave up 97 yards and a TD to JuJu just two weeks ago.

Jermaine Kearse (ESPN 35% / Yahoo 39%): 18 targets in his last two weeks and went over the hundred mark for the first all season last Sunday. Up next KC who just gave up a TD to Zay Jones as he saw 10 targets also.

Bonus: Josh Gordon (ESPN 35% / Yahoo 53%): Flash Gordon is back! I don’t think you can start him but he is the ultimate YOLO move to cap off as whacky a season as I’ve ever seen.

Double Bonus: Seth Roberts (ESPN 1% / Yahoo 1%) & Cordarrelle Patterson (ESPN 1% / Yahoo 4%): (Do your chain hang low? Do it wobble to da flow? Do it shine in the light? Is it platinum, is it gold? Could you throw it over ya shoulder? If ya hot, it make ya cold Do your chain hang low?)

With Crabtree suspended for 2 games after the neckless gate and Cooper Trooper in concussion protocol the Raiders are thin at WR leaving both Patterson and Roberts in line to see huge increases in playing time and targets.

Ricky Seals-Jones (ESPN 1% / Yahoo 3%): You find the end zone in back to back weeks you are going to find this list! Ride the touchdown heater!

Julius Thomas (ESPN 26% / Yahoo 27%): Constent targets and gets Denver in week 13. Denver has given up 2 TDs to TEs over their past 3 games.

Charles Clay (ESPN 47% / Yahoo 32%): Each week Clay looks better and will be 4 weeks removed from knee surgery when he faces the Patriots Sunday. Still, a streamable option this week, Clay’s real value lies ahead (wk 14 Ind & wk 15 Mia).
