The Trade Report – Week 8

Week 8 Trade Market

In this weekly series, I’ll be observing a few players each week that I would be targeting in trades and a few players that I would be looking to cash out on. These recommendations assume a standard format, but would likely change very little in another format. If you have specific questions about trades then feel free to ask me on Twitter, at @ZakDewitt. Keep in mind, this article is written before the Thursday Night Football game.

Buys

Aaron Jones (GB) – Last week, it looked like Jones decisively took over the Packers backfield. He out-snapped Ty Montgomery but a hefty margin and still produced even with Montgomery healthy. With quarterback, Brett Hundley, looking like a hindrance to that offense, it does hurt Jones’ touchdown upside but it does mean they will likely lean on their running game. Buy Aaron Jones now while the price may still be low.

Corey Davis (TEN) – The Titans need somebody to step up in the passing game. Mariota is getting no help and we saw that Corey Davis can be the WR1 for the offense. He’s been held out for much of the year so people may have forgotten about him and you may be able to get him on the cheap. He could be a league winner if he’s able to elevate the Titans offense.

Marlon Mack (IND) – Marlon Mack has out-snapped Frank Gore the past two weeks and he looks a lot more explosive than Gore. It’s in the Colts’ best interest to get Mack more involved and give that offense all the help it can get. I would expect Mack to continue to get more and more involved and you’re gonna want to buy him now before the price skyrockets.

Alvin Kamara (NO) – It may be a little too late to buy Kamara but he’s continuing to see his workload increase every week. He’s also seeing more rushing opportunities than the typical New Orleans receiving back. He should be a locked-in RB2 with really nice upside for the rest of the year and you’re gonna want him on any roster you can get him.

Tyrod Taylor (BUF) – Tyrod has continued to produce as a starting fantasy QB this year and he was likely someone you could get off your waiver wire. He may be an every week starter from now or at least someone that you want to keep on your roster and sit in bad matchups. He gives you a very safe floor because of the rushing numbers he puts up and still has decent TD upside. He’s a great target, especially if you drafted QB late or have been streaming the position.

Sells

Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) – Drew Stanton is the quarterback in Arizona now and that means bad things for every piece of that offense. I would try to sell Fitz on his name value and the fact that he is currently the WR2 in fantasy. It’s gonna be abysmal from here on out so take anything you can get.

Adrian Peterson (ARI) – *See Larry Fitzgerald.

Jordy Nelson (GB) – For a lot of the reasons we talked about with Davante Adams last week, and even Fitzgerald this week, I want to get rid of Jordy. The offense looks bad with Hundley there and all the pieces are likely to struggle until Rodgers gets back. Sell Jordy on his name value and I would take anything you can get.

Doug Baldwin (SEA) – I’m not saying Baldwin will be bad for the rest of the year but he will be inconsistent. He’s been fairly boom or bust his whole career so if that’s something your roster can withstand then keep him. If not, I would be exploring trade options to see if I can get a more reliable piece instead.

Amari Cooper (OAK) – Cooper came alive last week and you may be thinking he’s fixed. Keep in mind though, that he still dropped a few passes and didn’t look all that great despite the numbers he put up. This may have gotten him out of his funk but he is going to be boom or bust all season still. He is also highly unlikely to see 19 targets again so color me a little skeptical. Don’t trade him at all costs but I would be testing the waters to see if someone is buying high.
