IDP Corner: TNF Week 6

This should be a fun, interesting game for a Thursday night game. Both offenses have proven to be dynamic, and able to explode from time to time. Both defenses have had their bright spots and work well enough to get their offense back on the field. The NFL needs a shot in the arm given the political air surrounding it, and two 4-1 teams facing off tonight is a fairly good chance on having people focus on football.

Players most likely owned and often weekly starters: Luke Kuechly, Jordan Hicks, Nigel Bradham, and Malcolm Jenkins.

Defensive Linemen:
Kawann Short: With 3 sacks in the past 2 weeks, Short looks like he is starting to roll, the Eagles will be a bit more of a challenge, but I think he’ll have a chance to be productive with Blount being the lead back coming into the game, overall he’ll collect more tackles and his chances of more sacks is thinner. Don’t go chasing for Short, but if you need a plug in for this week, he has some good signs around him.

Linebackers:
Shaq Thompson: Yet to have a “big” week yet this season, Thompson was drafted as the eventual replacement for Thomas Davis, and this season he’s started to take on that responsibility. There will be plenty of midrange work for the linebackers from Carolina this week, and the Kuechly/Davis symbiosis of the past has proven that another linebacker can be relevant for IDP. At the least target Thompson for his growth to continue over the season.

Defensive Backs:
Jalen Mills: In addition to having a decent nose for tackles this season, Mills has been rather productive with Passes Defended. As with all Cornerbacks there is a solid boom/bust aspect with them, Mills has proven to have a decent high floor to the bust side of his equation. He’s a reasonable add if you like to live on the edge of explosive output.

Patrick Robinson: A beneficiary of Mills’ play, Robinson has had totaled 7 passes defended in the past 3 weeks. The Panthers should continue to push their passing ways as they’ve found success in the past two weeks with it, as a result both Mills and Robinson should catch plenty of work. Both are able to get interceptions, but I feel like Robinson has a better chance at one this week. That said history has shown to be more of a single week play if you are looking for a one week boom play chance.

Good luck to everyone on your Thursday endeavors. And as always if you have questions feel free to reach out via twitter to me @decoylife or the other gurus @TFFGurus, @DaFantasyFather, and @TheFantasyBoys.
