IDP Corner: TNF Week 14

Welcome to the playoffs (or the last week of the season if you are in the long format leagues). Hopefully, you are still rolling strong. If you aren’t then hopefully were able to limp into the playoffs. If you didn’t then, enjoy cheering on your real life team for the last three weeks of the season and hopefully, they can make the real playoffs.

Here are some of my perspectives on players that are playing tonight:

Defensive Backs:

Steven Nelson – the more consistent floor cornerback compared to the glass cannon that is Marcus Peters, this will be the first time since week 10 that both players will be starting. I think this will be to the benefit of all of the KC defense, but definitely to each other for sure. Carr is a talented young QB who does not throw interceptions often, but I think both Peters and Nelson will get some work in tonight.

Nate Allen – With it looking like Karl Joseph will be out due to a toe injury, Allen is next in line on the depth chart. Reggie Nelson should see a benefit as well. While Allen only has 4 total tackles on the season, 3 came last week, along with an interception and a pass defended. Alex Smith is a little more careful than Tyrod Taylor, but it does appear that Allen can ball, and could be a sneaky add if he does, in fact, step up again.

Linemen:

Rakeem Nunez-Roches – With both Dontari Poe and Kendall Reyes coming into tonight as questionable, Nunez-Roches has a chance to rotate in and put up numbers like he did 2 and 3 weeks ago. With a healthy secondary for KC, OAK may try to run early in the game after some failed passes, especially if the KC line is banged up.

Denico Autry – Yes, yes, Khalil Mack is a lineman and should be talked about, but he is likely one of the highest paid/first drafted DLs in your league, AND plays LB just as much as he does an actual down lineman. Autry has had okay numbers the past three weeks, arguably the best collection of stats in that time for a DL on OAK not named Mack. Also of note is KC gives up a good deal of points to Defensive Ends, which just so happens to be where Autry plays.

Linebackers:

Ramik Wilson – Sticking with a guy I called on last weekend. Dee Ford, Tamba Hali, Frank Zombo, and D. J. Alexander are all behind Wilson for production over the past four weeks. Wilson remains the other starting Middle Linebacker, and the Raiders long game may be hindered with the healthy KC secondary, so Wilson should see plenty of work in the range areas.

Bruce Irvin – While Malcolm Smith is the LB to own in OAK, Irvin has been keeping pace with Smith over the past four weeks, and depending on your league’s scoring, could actually be edging Smith out. Alex Smith doesn’t own much for a cannon of an arm so we can expect plenty of work inside of 5 yards where linebackers get to do their work. Both M. Smith and Irvin will lose points to the dynamic Khalil Mack, but they should both be able to put plenty of points up as well.

Good luck to everyone on your Thursday endeavors, and as always if you have questions feel free to reach out via twitter to me @decoylife or the other gurus  @TFFGurus, @DaFantasyFather, and @TheFantasyBoys.
